Zurich

Tuesday, July 15th found Julie and Anthony on a boat on the Limmat River which feeds into Lake Zurich.
Before Julie and Anthony left on our trip, we got together with friends, Robert and Beth, who had lived in Switzerland for a few years. They had wonderful suggestions, one of which was to make sure we went to Sprungli, in Zurich, and try the Luxemburgerli.
On our first trip into the city center, we got off the bus and what did we see? Yes! Sprungli, where we had lunch and bought a bunch of Luxemburgerli to share with friends we were meeting later. A smidge pricy but oh so yummy. Julie thinks that rather sums up all of Switzerland: A smidge pricey but oh so yummy.

Switzerland was hosting the Women’s European Cup Football (Soccer for the homies) matches this summer. More on that later.

Julie and Anthony toured the Grossmunster, and walked up the tower for a birds eye view of Zurich.

Julie and Anthony caught the ferry to meet friends for dinner in a Restaurant on Lake Zurich.

Julie and Anthony met friends from Raleigh, Pepper and Sarah, who have been living in Zurich for 5 years. Coincidentally, our Little German Band and Dancer friends, Amy, Cyril and clan were staying in Zurich. We had dinner outside at Restaurant Seegarten in Kusnacht.

On Wednesday, Julie and Anthony visited the Landesmuseum (Swiss National Museum) and took some photos.
Zurich has a Rave Parade every year, it pretty much shuts down the city. There was a Rave exhibit in the Landesmuseum, it took Anthony back to his days listening to music and dancing at the Fallout Shelter in the (19)90s.
Sarah and Pepper’s place is on the top floor in the house behind the flags.
Wednesday evening, Julie and Anthony took the ferry back out to Pepper and Sarah’s place to have dinner. They had an amazing apartment in Erlenbach on Lake Zurich. After dinner Anthony, Cyril, Elliot, Cy and Vivian went for a swim in the lake.

Thursday morning Julie and Anthony took a boat ride on the Limmat River.

Thursday evening, Sweden and England met in the quarter finals of the Women’s European cup. The Stadion Letzigrund was literally across the street from our Air B and B.
Anthony was able to get two tickets in the corner behind one of the goals. We routed for England.
The seats were perfect. All four regular time goals were scored on our end AND the penalty kicks were right in front of us.
On Friday, Julie and Anthony took the train to Rhein fall on the German Boarder. It was a wonderful day, and the falls were amazing.

Saturday, Julie and Anthony took our much anticipated tour to the Lindt Museum/Factory. It did not disappoint!
We took a ferry to the museum.

First place where you got chocolate. You get a spoon and three chocolate fountains…. dark, milk, white. Have at it!
Then there were chocolate squares.
THEN there was a room with just bins of truffles. Followed by an assembly line where, at the end, you got more chocolate. The picture on the right was our haul.
Saturday evening Julie and Anthony met Pepper and Sarah for a terrific dinner in Zurich, near the Grossmunster.
Anthony fell in love with the Swiss public transportation. Julie and Anthony had a half fare pass for July. Also, the Swiss have an app where you start your trip when you get on your Trains, Trams or Ferry and stop when you get off and it calculates your best price. Easy Peasy. Thank you Robert and Beth for the heads up.
