Efteling

05 June to 07 June 2025

Julie heard about Efteling Amusement Park from the Meyers Brothers podcast. It was a delight.

Anthony added another Belgian to his tally, this time it was Zot from Brugge.

Julie and Anthony at the park entrance. We were excited!

Our first ride of the day was Joris en de Draak. We walked right up and only had a short wait for the front row.

Joris was a wooden rolller coaster with lots of turns, but no upside downs. It was a fun ride, great way to start the day.

Next up the Python, again Julie and Anthony walked right up to the front row. The Python was a bit more loopy.

Doofus!

We also rode the De Vleigende Hollander, which was a flume ride. It was a cool mixture of roller coaster and flume ride, more roller coaster than the flume rides back home.

The Baron 1898 Coaster had the best drop of the day. We rode this one in the front and back row.

When Julie first saw this one, she did so “Oh #$%!”, but it was FUN!!! The line, however, was not.

A local game (aka silly human tricks) show was filming at the park. Words are insufficient to describe, you just have to watch the videos.

The park had some beautiful greenery. It was weird seeing the statues and characters and not having any context.

Kids were waiting in line for this guy. We have no idea who he is.

Entrance to the Droomvlucht, at covered coaster with animatronics. It was very pretty and cool!

Julie and Anthony rode the Pagoda, a soaring Thai temple, and were rewarded with terrific views of the park and the surrounding town.

Python, again, this time from the back car.

One of the coolest rides was the Villa Volta. The ride was built inside a room, and the floor and seats spun around the room. The effect was terrific, and impossible to catch in a photo.

Not pictured are:

Fata Morgana, a Baghdad take on the Pirates of the Caribbean and just as tasteless.

Danse Macabre, a haunted house with a Viennese flare.

The Pirana, a bumper boat water ride. We saved this for last but we did not get very wet.

Like true ride monsters, we closed the park down (it was only open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, but hey! it still counts).

On our way out, someone from behind us told Anthony that he was wearing a nice shirt. He was wearing his Wrexham shirt, and it turns out that there was a Wrexham football girls team who were in the Netherlands for a tournament!! Julie got very excited and started asking them questions, trying to get the scoop on the men’s team. She regrets not asking them where they think the new stadium will go.

Our room had a balcony, where Julie and Anthony had beers and shared pizza after a terrific day at the Park.

The room was very nice, but the shower…… Seriously, Julie really, almost didn’t fit. It was a VERY TIGHT squeeze.
